A note from the founder

Why I built Handwrite

Hi, my name is Malcolm Stone. I’m a college student, and I’ve struggled with dyslexia my whole life.

Since I was young, I’ve struggled with everyday tasks at school, including phonics, reading comprehension, and writing. Until around eighth grade, I went to a large public school where there simply weren’t enough resources available to accommodate my different way of learning.

In eighth grade, I was lucky enough to transfer to a small private school. The teachers and classes were amazing at accommodating my needs and those of the students around me. I still struggled with reading and writing, but this new environment gave me tools and strategies that helped me flourish at school in ways I hadn’t been able to before.

I then went to Rollins College, a small liberal arts college in Florida. We have amazing services to help students. I continue to receive support with exams, and I’ve been introduced to great tools for listening to books and so much more.

That’s where I got the idea for Handwrite. It brings together the tools, resources, and little tricks that have really helped me—not to beat dyslexia, but to find better ways to learn, read, and write.

I built Handwrite from that experience, with the hope that it can help someone else find what works for them, too.
